About Time
When Geoff Taylor left the UAE in 2011, he left behind a couple of books of dive reports which give a comprehensive account of the club’s activities between April 1980 and March 1984. Allen has just completed the task of scanning the documents which are now available as pdf copies. The files are too large for email but I would be happy to send via We Transfer to anyone who was around at the time or is simply curious as to what the club was up to in those days of almost 40 years ago.

To go even further back into the past, Marc has turned up an interesting raffle ticket ( see below )  from the De Ruyter family scrapbook:
“QDR” stands for Qatar-Dubai Riyal which was the currency before the UAE Dirham was invented. In fact in October 1971, the UAE itself was still two months away from existence. 

The Ambassador Hotel is presumably the one that still stands on Al Falah Street in Bur Dubai, not far from HSBC, but I can’t be 100% sure of this. Perhaps someone out there can confirm.
